The Book
Working with the Mary Project Book can be an important part of the experience for people who are viewing Mary’s Annunciation Dance. As a person looks at the various small Marys in the large work, he or she may experience an interest and curiosity about specific Marys. The Book affords the viewer the opportunity to see the actual postcard of the Annunciation that was used to copy each Mary, to confirm the name of the original artist and the location of that particular painting today.
The Book also includes pages with information about the history of the portrayals of Mary in Annunciation paintings and the meaning behind some of the gestures found in these paintings, especially those that were painted during the late Medieval Period and the Renaissance.
